(More customer reviews)I bought this unit about 7 months ago and it works perfect! The picture when playing DVDs is great, and I had no problem recording dvds (and using them on other DVD players). I noticed that other reviews seemed to be negative because of issues that were the users fault to begin with.
1) If you finalize the DVD properly per the instructions, it works fine (and will play on other DVD players).
2) Yes of course it is region locked (as most players are). You can't fault the unit because YOU didn't read the description when you bought it.
It has come in handy many times when I wanted to keep a copy of a TV show but no longer wanted to take up room on my DVR. I highly recommend!
