(More customer reviews)Model GDI-VW03 is my first turntable, and it certainly meets my needs. Overall, it's very versatile, although not perfect. However, keep in mind it's often available up to $30 cheaper from other vendors.
This model doesn't always have consistent features (for example, mine does not have auto tone arm reset), but I will describe what I believe will best apply to all of them.
PROS:
--3 SPEED, plays 33s, 45s, and 78s (45 adapter included)
--TONE ART LIFT helps ensure more control rather than starting a record by hand (security snap for storage too)
--transparent dust cover
--compact size, sleek, sturdy (made of plywood w/ veneer versus plastic)
--built in speakers, no amp necessary
--USB output for PC/Mac, RCA output (both cords are removable)
--autostop and volume control
CONS:
--NOT DESIGNED WITH 45s IN MIND, sometimes won't finish the song if on autostop, but never reaches the center is autostop is off (stylus just jumps around in the vicinity)
--SOUND QUALITY isn't fantastic, depends on your records and any external speakers too
--PITCH is inconsistent from the motor at times
--SOFTWARE doesn't do a whole lot to remove noise/pops/clicks
--TOO SMALL, the slot in the dust cover isn't large enough for the rare few LPs that are severely warped (scrapes lid), LPs extend beyond the cover and casing on the front/side/back
If you don't mind the quirks, and are seeking something fairly affordable to simply enjoy your collection with, you might consider this model. I'm quite happy to relive my mother's old collection, as well as finding secondhand records of my own. This music format is so much more interactive-- maybe even hypnotic!
(PS: I'd unplug it when not in use because it sounds like it consumes a fair amount of vampire power.)
